Olikor FAQ
Last updated 13 October 2026
The idea. You write rules that say which episodes belong in a playlist, and behaviours that say what to do with it. Olikor keeps the playlist filled. Nothing needs picking by hand.
Getting started
How do I add a podcast?
Search, which looks in Apple Podcasts and gpodder.net. Or paste an RSS feed address directly, which sends nothing to either.
Stream or download?
Both. Tap an episode to stream it; download it to listen with no signal.
Playlists
What is a rule?
A rule picks episodes. Pick a type, then the podcasts it applies to:
- Latest Episode — the newest, per podcast
- Latest Unplayed / Oldest Unplayed
- All From Podcast, One Episode
- In Progress, All Downloaded
- Add From Playlist — reuse another playlist
What is a behaviour?
A behaviour acts on the playlist once the rules have filled it: Limit, Order By, Filter, Cleanup, Playback Speed, Intro/Outro Skip, Notify, and the fetch ones below.
Which behaviour refreshes and downloads?
Fetch, Rebuild and Download — one behaviour that checks the feeds, refills the playlist, and queues the downloads. There are narrower versions if you want less: Fetch Podcast Updates, or Fetch and Rebuild.
What does the ★ do?
Set Default, on the Playlists screen. The default playlist is queued up when the app opens, so it is the one you press play on.
What does the ⬇ do?
Marks the playlist for download. Turning it on starts the queue immediately — you do not have to wait for a rebuild.
And the ↻?
Rebuild: run the rules and behaviours now. Use it after any edit to see the result.
A default playlist, start to finish
- Playlists → new. Name it
Daily. - Add a rule: Latest Unplayed, and tick the podcasts you want in it.
- Add behaviours: Limit 10, so it stays short, and Order By to set the running order.
- Add Fetch, Rebuild and Download.
- Give it a time — group that behaviour and set the group’s trigger to On a schedule, daily, 07:00. Premium
- Back on Playlists: tap ★ to make it the default and ⬇ to download it.
- Tap ↻ once to fill it now rather than waiting for the first run.
Each morning it then checks the feeds, rebuilds to the ten newest unplayed episodes, downloads them, and is queued and offline by the time you open the app.
Scheduling
What can a schedule be?
Once, daily, weekly on chosen days, or monthly on a chosen date, each at a time you set. Or an event instead of a clock: App Start, Podcast Fetched, Playlist Ends, 1 Episode Left and a few more.
Do I need Premium for that?
For the trigger, yes. A schedule or an event belongs to a group of behaviours, and grouping is a Premium feature — as is grouping rules.
What works without it?
Everything else. Rules, all the behaviours including Fetch, Rebuild and Download, ★, ⬇ and ↻. You press ↻ instead of a clock pressing it for you.
Free limits
10 podcasts, 5 playlists, 3 rules per playlist, 10 bookmarks. Premium removes those and adds volume levelling and boost, compression, silence trimming, and full statistics.
When it does not do what you expected
Nothing downloaded
Check ⬇ is on for that playlist, then tap ↻. A download playlist with nothing in it downloads nothing.
The playlist is empty
Usually the rules match nothing — every episode already played, or no podcasts ticked on the rule. Open the rule and check the podcast selection.
The schedule did not run
Check the schedule log, which records what ran and when. An incomplete schedule is also flagged in the editor as one that can never run.
